Bernard is the Chairman of BKCA
My family and I have lived in and around Bedford for nearly 30 years now. The longest I have lived anywhere. In that time, I have worked at a number of local and sometimes family owned companies.
I believe very strongly in the importance of grass roots politics in providing choice to the public for all political views. It is this link to the electorate that helps to keep politicians at all levels grounded and in touch with their electorate. Being involved in local politics doesn’t just mean standing for elected office and there are many other roles available to volunteers.
What I like about Bedford is that it is small enough to get around without any fuss and I often do so by bike, while providing most of the essentials for life and that it has easy connections to the wider world.
Living in Bedford allows me to indulge easily in some of my pastimes and hobbies. There is nothing that I like better than walking and the calming influence of the countryside and living here allows one quick access to some great walks. There is also a thriving music scene in Bedford that caters from rock to classical and everything in between.
