We are so happy to be introducing you to Pinder Chauhan, our new Parliamentary Spokesperson for Bedford and Kempston She has only been in post a few weeks but you may well have already met her out and about talking to residents and helping Tom Wootton and the local councillor candidates with their campaigning. Welcome to the team PInder. Here are a few words from Pinder......
I am a strong believer that local communities need a strong voice and deserve a person with a
wide range of lived experiences in order to be represented well in Government. It is best done
from the ground up, person by person and street by street. I bring with me a wealth of
experience in my role as a Councillor and experienced board member, sitting on various
charity boards.
I want to put Bedford on the map and ensure that your voice and views are heard in
Parliament. You will regularly see the Bedford and Kempston Conservative team –
Councillors and myself knocking on doors and meeting people across Brickhill, Castle,
Caudwell, De Parys, Goldington, Harpur, Kempston Central, East, North and South and in
Newnham, Putnoe, and Queens Park.
I am keen to meet with voluntary organisations and charities, faith communities, and
businesses in the area to listen to the views of as many people as possible – I want to hear
your views on how we can make Bedford and Kempston an even better place to live, work
and study. Please get in touch, if you would like to reach out to me or would like me to visit
your organisation.
Having worked in the early year's sector, I am passionate about supporting families and
young people with better outcomes, no matter what start they have had in life. As someone
who regularly works with small businesses alongside global organisations, I know that
businesses are the backbone of our Country; I am keen on ensuring that Bedford and
Kempston is the best place to start and run businesses of all sizes.
On a personal note, I experienced homelessness during my teenage years; this left a huge
impact on me personally. I understand that access to good jobs and education can change
someone’s life, as it did mine. This is why I will ensure if I am elected as your Member of
Parliament that the young people living in this constituency have the best opportunities to
progress through education and jobs. As a parent of a teenage son and a younger child, I
understand the challenges that parents experience juggling work and family and in some
instances, Neurodiversity needs of their children too. This is an area that I am passionate
about and would like to influence in government to give our children the best opportunities
and start to life.
I will champion improvements in healthcare and family services, supporting businesses and
building sustainable transport infrastructure, tackling air pollution throughout the
constituency, and increasing environmentally sustainable practices through planning
processes that developers adopt. I will fight for improved housing and the regeneration of
Bedford Town and Kempston Town. The Bedford and Kempston constituency deserves a
Member of Parliament that will ensure that the voices of local communities are heard in
Westminster and the change is felt in the local area. Please fill in the survey in the Residents
Survey section to give me the opportunity to learn more about, what matters to you or scan
